Celebrities Behaving Badly

In today's modern day society I think people still look up to celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Chris Brown, Kanye West, because they consider them as their idols. But the real question is, why look up to them when they've done something bad? I feel that when overlooking their favourite celebrities, true fans will obviously look past those flaws. Since I was never really a big fan of Justin, Kanye and all the other artists who may have gone into some trouble, I cannot relate to their situation. However, if I were in their shoes, I would probably say that these artists have been successful their whole lives and that doing one wrong thing is human and cannot make me change their view on them.

On the other hand however, why are these celebrities not getting the same treatment they are as regular people who commit the crime? I honestly do not care who they may be or what position they have on our society, but if they do something wrong they need to pay the price of the crime committed what ever it may be. In my opinion I feel that they won't even serve jail time since they maybe have all the money in the world to bail them out. I'm not saying that they should be punished more than regular people on the streets but I am definitely saying that they should be treated just and equally as everyone else.

I really think that celebrities behaving badly is very overrated, and almost too much the media focuses on more than anything else if it does happen. For e.g when Justin Bieber was interviewed by the police the media, news and celebrity gossip channels couldn't get enough over them. I mean really? They too are normal people and if anything they get even more popular for going to jail or doing anything bad. It's disturbing to think that sometimes our society mainly focuses on people such as celebrities and that they get special treatment. Bottom line is, if you do something bad you gotta pay the price and own up to it just like anyone else. 

Are our Schools Safe

The most common thing we can do is to stand up or tell someone right? Actually, it isn't that simple at all. It takes alot of nerve to raise your voice and is something they can be afraid. But our school, Mary Ward, has a great line of resource we can speak to and are very welcoming. If I was someone being bullied my straight action would first go to my TA, then after that I will inform my Principal and go to my guidance councillor for support. We can also speak to our close teacher, coaches, staff or even the chaplaincy. We can reach out to all these wonderful people for help because they help shape our community and can transform it many ways. Telling somebody in general gives you an overall great support system and can make you feel safer than you did before. 

Some new school sevices I think would be great if we had an online anonymous advice column for any problem we may face in school especially bullying. I think doing this can get everyone interacted and we can form new bonds and create a greater stand for those who are bullied. Doing this can raise more awareness for these unfortunate events and helps give us awareness for everyone around the school and nation. 

Its is really unfortunate that bullying is still a common thing among some schools all over the world. What's more unfortunate is that if the girl who commited the crime wqas bullied and that was what triggered her to do harm unto others as well. If only something was done earlier to help her out I would have felt that maybe this tragic incident would not have com about in the first place. Yes schools are supposed to be safe but they are not perfect and things like these can happen. We can avoid some of these by making sure each student feels safe by doing surveys and doing an annual mental check up on how each of us are and how our mental health is very important. 

Is the Internet fully Trustworthy?

Nobody can really trust the internet nowadays. with that terrible post thats been going around about world poverty being solved in that math equation, is terribly embarrasing not only that yet rather offensive to those you may be in poverty and who are less fortunate. Spreading around false information we see on the internet is definitley a bad thing but most especially if you got this information off if the internet! The internet is full of lies and rather yet is one of the most scariest things to discover because many of us use it for the majority of our day!

 

To avoid falling into this trap of spreading around false information to the world, I rarley do not hop onto the bandwagon of sharing, commenting, and posting on my own social media. If anything, it is the main posters fault for starting the post of false info. I only use my twitter for example just to view what people are posting about their lives but not for me to post anything (usually). Whenever I do stumble upon false information, we obviously will not know it yet because the internet wants us to think it is true! But if I feel something looks suspicious, I usually, ask my friends, and wait a few days to verify if it is true or not. I also think to myself first if it is reasonable or not, and really think if this would make sense in reality. 

This can also be a bad thing for students because as we use the internet on a daily basis, we could be using untrustworthy websites. on the other hand though, we have been taught by teachers how to find reliable sources. With that being said, all we need to know is how to handle the internet and how to deal with reliable ones and the not so reliable ones. we just need to think smart for our selves and just to be smart around things like new information on social media especially. 

Is It Really Worth It???

YouTube is one of my favourite pass time hobbies because obviously in my previous post I use this more than TV. I enjoy "How-to" videos, youtubers vlogs, and watching pretty much anything. However, I've always had a problem however with tht eannoying ads. I especially hate those with no option to press "Skip Ad" and it can be a big frustration especailly if you just want to watch a short video. It can be a real pain sometimes and can irritate us to a point where people will be considering to pay almost $10.00/month for an ad free life!

The biggest question is though, is $10.00 a month actually worth having no ads at all? If you think about it, it can be quite pricey for many people especially since they thought YouTube basically was all free. This price just makes me consider getting a Netflix or better yet using that money to buy something more useful like food! Yes, it is a great idea and I'm sure there will be people out there who will definitley consider this marvelous idea, but as it stands for me, it is not worth it!

I think waiting for that 30 second ad to finish if there is now Skip option, can sometimes maybe entice your eyes on something you may like? Who knows? You may find your self in love with a new product all because you watched a YouTube ad that you never wanted to see in the first place! I feel that there may be benefits to waiting for the ad to finish because you can take a trip to grab a few snacks, maybe stretch and yawn, or maybe just to look out the window and check out how the weather looks. But the main point here is that waiting for that ad to end is not the end of the world and is not going to be the death of you. Yes, it may be super annoying (I totally agree) and it may ruin your day. But this no where near paying money for because there are bigger better things you can spend your money on rather then spending them on those small advertisements! So really, all I'm trying to get out there is that, I think it is not worth it

The End is Near!

   In my opinion, TV is coming to an end. However on the more technological side, for so many years I think TV has been such an amzing impact to our society. it is one of the most common pieces of technology almost everyone had. They've evolved greatly with new ideas such as flat screen TVs, HD TVS, 3D, and the curve. I feel that TV has had its glory days and its time for them to step down and take a littlle holiday because times are changing and innovative ideas are blasting through the door faster than we know!

   Nowadays, it's all about the newest TV "replacements" such as Netflix, CraveTV, Youtube, Apple TV, and many other things. These have all been becoming more and more popular as the days go by because of many reasons. Dont get me wrong. I love TV and the channels and all the shows I watch! But you can do just almost the same as on all these new ideas. One, viewers can watch any show they want, anytime they want, wherever they are! compared to a televsion, people have to wait for the broadcast time and they need to sit only where their TV may be. In my opinion, these new inventions have made the scheduling for our busy lives more convenient. This givcs us more control over our lives while still having it for the same purpose. I also think with the bills to pay for cable and for the TV it self can get pretty pricey. with Netflix there is only a minimum fee of $5/month. But better yet you can view videos on Netflix that may not ven be out on television yet and you can get an insider on whateve episode it may be.

   We may only be using TV for the news and weather but we can also see those on apps, the internet, and other sources as well making TV come to a point where it can be pretty useless. In my opinion TV will be missed greatly, because of how much a common household piece of technology it has had on people for decades! In other words, the end for TV truly is near and its time for it to go while the new innovative ideas come through!
